Erik hasn't died. But his spirit is dead for world, though his body lives. The Persian, Daroga (in this novel he is called Aslan) helped Erik out of mere pity, feeling sorry for him. Erik stays in Opera but he lost interest in life. Well, but someone in the Opera hasn't lost interest  in him!  It is a beautiful and talented young ballerina, Camilla Fonteyn, brave and charming girl, and a ball of fire. She adores mysteries and wants to  solve the secret behind Phantom of the Opera and that obscure affair of Christine Daaé. She is  persistent and  quite soon encounters Erik - and her caring and love will bring him back to life and recover his spirits. But not only her charms work on Erik, they even work on poor Daroga, who becomes her admirer, and unfortunately on rich aristocrat, Anri Nerval, who turnes out to be a mysterious "Parisian Vampire" - maniac and sadist! He kills for pleasure - for pleasure to see young women bleeding to death!  He patronizes Camilla in her ballet career (as her greatest dream to dance the part of Giselle  in the ballet of the same name -  she is truly bewildered by the fate of Giselle, the girl who died because of broken heart but remained true to the man she'd loved even after her death! And Nerval helps  Camilla to recieve that part - but later it turns out that he even may kill  Camilla!)
And he also tracks down Erik, the "Phantom of the Opera" along with Secret  Police of France (he needs Erik's inventions and tricks).

Lots of mystery, adventure and romance - it is written in style of Leroux's novel but in more modern language. It also contains 28 chapters and commentaries at the end - as Leroux's novel! It was done on purpose by the author, Maria. This novel previously was on our Russian web site FANDROM and was/is the most popular fanfiction on POTO theme in Russian phandom. As I said above the book contains illustrations -  7 black and white illustrations, plus Maria made the cover for the book!

Maria Andrianova is  a professional artist - she is using the mixed technique combining Indidan ink (by pen), acrylic, colour pencil as well as oil on paper and cardboard. But graphic arts are what she prefers! She even won first prize at International Biennale for Best Graphics.

Amazon's Editorial Reviews
Three stories, based on characters from the original Phantom of the Opera novel. Three stories, revisiting that universe. A phantom who lives in hiding. An angel heard in dreams. There are "Phantoms of the Mind," that send a lonely rape victim spiraling off into madness. There’s "The Portal," a place where darkness meets light. There is "Little Lotte," the child who hears an angel sing. Unlike any stage or screen version, the focus is angel, not phantom. Ever present, he unites the threads of these tales.

The story involves Sherlock Holms and his cousin, who are asked to investigate the mysterious opera ghost. Upon his findings he discovers the ghost is real and he has feeling just like every one else. It's nice for a change to see a different approach on Erik. The Persian takes the place of a villain and Sherlock takes on the role originated by the Persian. This is some what disturbing if you like Susan Kay's interpretation of him. All together the characters are well developed and it's a fun read.

A Short story. Christine agrees to stay with Erik for five years. A more violent Erik. Narrated by Christine now one knows what Erik is thinking. Shoes Erik a horrible light. During a performance of Faust, the beautiful young soprano Christine is kidnapped by the hideous "Phantom" of the Paris Opéra and taken to his Gothic lair beneath the city. The phantom's powers are almost supernatural, his tempers often lethal. However, Christine is no victim. Though she must accede to his demands that she become his wife and protégé, she does so on her terms, and the dark romance that follows becomes an enduring legend.

Editorial Reviews

When a farmer and his wife decide to see a touring production of Rigoletto, they are not aware that Luigi the singing rooster has hitched a ride in the back of their truck. It's a one-way trip for Luigi, who becomes so enamored of the opera that he decides to stay. His singing enrages the famous tenor Enrico Baldini, but the feisty fowl cannot contain his joy. Auch's richly colored illustrations fill the pages, suiting the opera motif to a tee. Luigi, like Auch's other poultry stars, becomes a real character, overflowing with emotional turmoil, bursting with song, a great tenor in the making. The text, brimming with jokes, puns, and alliteration, compounds the delicious humor of the artwork. Shower singers will have a ball sharing this book in storytime. It will bring down the house with every repeat performance.?

Following the Paris opera house disaster, Erik, the charismatic and disfigured man known as the Phantom, settled into a secluded home on the outskirts of London. He resigned himself to a life of solitude, but two years later, fate introduced him to a young woman who reawakened his emotions. Although Mellie was a gifted composer, no one took her work seriously. She recognized Erik's brilliance and was desperate for his help. Drawn to both the man and his talent, she made a bold proposition, and he accepted. Together, they forged a unique partnership that became the talk of London society. But when Erik's past returned to haunt him, he could lose everything he'd gained in his new life - including Mellie. Deception is a tale of loss, healing, and ultimately of love.

Sometimes in life you have to risk everything.
She left him a broken man teetering on the brink of madness. He fully expected to remain in that condition for the rest of his life. But one night, in a dark and filthy alley, fate sent him another reason to hope. In the midst of his deepest despair, he found a purpose far greater than himself and in the process discovered the true meaning of happiness. And now, with his heart again dreaming, he had a plan; a plan that would give him a life beyond his wildest fantasies. But there were three things standing in his way; the police who hunted him, the Russians he would steal from, and the man he had sworn to kill. A Phantom of the Opera story.

Amazon Review
First half of this book which was passionate and romantic. Perhaps it should have ended with Erik and Christine's marriage. The second half of the book, the story got more and more absurd and the characters were less and less likable. Erik says and does things that I think are totally out of character. Not only that but the author keeps mentioning Erik's past but never really EXPLAINS how his past would tie into his desire to get into witchcraft. The reader is just expected to KNOW. For a reader who has not read other Phantom novels, it may be confusing. Also the ending left me with an empty, almost indifferent feeling.

Christine walked the rest of the way inside the room and shut the door. She held the lantern high and turned, inspecting everything. The dresser still had a hairbrush and comb on it, right where she had left them, but pieces of glass were scattered on its top. Christine noticed where her mirror, the only mirror in the house, had hung. Only the frame was left. The glass had been shattered. He must of smashed it after she had left, blaming her refusal on his face. Christine shook her head woefully and turned, wanting to rest once more in the loveseat behind her. She gasped and almost dropped the lantern. "Erik!"

Christine Daae's return to the house on the lake marked the beginning of a new life, both for her and the Phantom. Death seems inevitable though, when her fiancé, Raoul, is not willing to give her up.

Book description
A swirl of a black cape, a single red rose, a glimpse of a face she thought never to see again—the story begins like all stories of true love—with passion, confusion, and fate playing a hand.

Vicomtesse Christine de Chagny, once known as the beautiful ingénue Christine Daae of the Paris Opera House, has stepped into her husband’s world of titled nobility. Newly-wed to Raoul de Chagny, the allure of a fresh beginning promises to dispel the young couple’s disturbing memories of a cursed Opera House and the Phantom who haunted it.

Yet, a past so unresolved cannot stay silent.

The Phantom returns, no longer a broken ghost, but a riveting man. With his usual audacious style, he beguiles and beckons, daring Christine to complete her journey from naïve girl to courageous woman.

How far will any man go to achieve his heart’s desire?

Book Description From Amazon
The tale of the Phantom of the Opera did not end in the labyrinth beneath a Paris theater. A wealth of secrets lay in the shadows of the convoluted tunnels. There the story continued to unfold...love and madness, a painful triumph over the damage of ridicule and cursed rejection. A determined soul, one capable of enduring a dark and unholy journey, managed to find its way back into the arms of the mate Destiny had ordained for it. Imagine the woman discovering, almost too late, the identity of her true love, a man she'd let slip through her fingers. Would she not ignore pride and search out a way to get him back? Yes! Christine Daae clawed a path to Erik, and he in turn mastered a demented part of himself in order to affect a degree of sanity and possess her. But were these two sets of glorious arms enough to hold a love spawned in hellish mystery? Let us see, brave soul, let us see.
